Welcome Address to the Department of Mechatronics Engineering
I am delighted to welcome you to the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Nigeria. Established in August 2024, our Department represents a significant milestone in advancing interdisciplinary engineering education in our Institution. The Department of Mechatronics Engineering was created with a vision to become a center of excellence in innovation, and seamlessly integrating Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, and Control Engineering disciplines. This unique combination enables our students to address contemporary and future challenges in automation, robotics, and intelligent systems.
Our commitment to excellence in teaching and research is upheld by our experienced Academic and Technical Staff, who are both approachable and friendly. Our faculty members are competent researchers, with a significant portion having pursued their doctoral studies in prestigious institutions, even in the United Kingdom. At our Department, students have access to state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, and gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software applications including: Autodesk Fusion 360, Siemens TIA Portal (STEP 7), Arduino IDE, Proteus, Sherlock, MotionBuilder, COMSOL Multiphysics, Python, amongst others.
With a curriculum designed to meet global standards, we are dedicated to ensuring that our graduates are competitive on the global stage and well-prepared to contribute to sustainable technological advancements. Our program aims to meet the growing manpower demands in the society, particularly in the fields of automation, robotics, and intelligent systems. The Department is actively working towards securing National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) accreditation to further enhance the quality of our program.
