Dr. Toyin Omotoso

Head, Department of Civil Engineering

Toyin Omotoso is a Chartered Civil Engineering Consultant and Academia. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering, B.Eng. degree from the, then, Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (Now, Ekiti State University, Ado – Ekiti) in 1992. He holds a Masters’ degree, M.Eng. in Civil Engineering from University of Benin, Benin in 2006, a Certificate in Small Hydro-power Development from AHEC, IIT, Roorkee, India in 2009 and PhD in Civil Engineering from The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK in 2016.  His background is engineering consultancy with tutelage in AOP Consult limited, Lagos where he has to his repute the design and supervision of construction of civil engineering infrastructures and reactivation of hydraulic structures with specific examples as Little Ose, Egbe Dam, Ekiti State and Awara-Oyimo Dam, Ondo State. He has been a Property Consultant specialising in Facilities Management with concerns in maintenance of buildings and their engineering services for industries and commercial institutions under the auspices and on retainership contract with AOP Consult limited. In construction field, his professional career has span initially and consistently with SMACE Nigeria limited on the supervision of ecological and civil projects among which are Benin-Owena Erosion Control Network in Ado-Ekiti (1991), the engineering auditing and construction of Ajolagun Bridge in Ikere Ekiti; a NEWMAP- World Bank assisted project (2021).  Toyin served as a Principal Resident Engineer on the Ekiti road revolution project under the Governor Segun Oni’s administration in Ekiti State. As a scholar, he joined the service of Ekiti State University in August 2002 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose to become a Senior Lecturer in 2017. He has made some publications in international referenced journals and has made a lot of presentations at conferences including the conference of International Association Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) at Hague, Netherland in 2015. His professional memberships include the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), the Nigerian Society of Civil Engineer (MNICE). He teaches Hydrology, Hydraulics, Water Resources Planning and Management and Civil Engineering Practices at Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels. His research interests are in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering with special delight in design of Civil Engineering Structures. He has served in various committees in his Department, Faculty, and the University. Toyin is presently the Acting Head of Civil Engineering Department at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti: he was appointed in August, 2023. He is also a Principal partner at LMT Consult limited, a COREN registered engineering Consulting firm specialising in civil-structural works, procurement and contract administration, and providing training courses for the engineering industry. He believes passionately that today’s Civil Engineering Project Managers need a sound knowledge of core  Engineering principles to shape the dynamics of today’s world demands in project execution and delivery within the constraint of time, serviceability, quality and cost
