Engr Dr B. S. Oluwadare

Dr Oluwadare Benjamin Segun obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) degree in 2005 from the University of Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria (now Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Nigeria). He obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng) Degree in 2010 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. He studied for a PhD at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom and graduated in 2020. During his PhD programme, he studied turbulence in transient channel flows using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Constant Temperature Anemometry that uses Hot-film sensors. He conducts research in Fluid Mechanics, Fluid Machinery, Heat Transfer and Production Engineering using experimental and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies. His newest research focuses on unsteady flow, transient turbulent flow, transition and turbulence. He joined the services of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering on 22nd November 2012 as Lecturer II and was promoted to Senior Lecturer on 1st October 2020. He is a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, an Associate member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (AMIMechE), London, United Kingdom, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), United States of America and a member of the American Physical Society (APS), United States of America.

Dr Oluwadare Benjamin has won many awards, which include the Award of Performance by the Association of Nigerians Abroad (2005), PhD Scholarship by the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (2015), Learned Societies Award, the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom (2017), ASME IGTI Student Scholarship, USA (2017), Learned Societies Award, the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom (2018), IMechE Award, London, United Kingdom (2018), IMechE Student Scholarship, London, United Kingdom (2018), Student Scholarship, Department of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom (2018) and IMechE Student Scholarship, London, United Kingdom (2019).

He attended and presented papers at the 5th International Conference of Fluid Flow, Heat and Mass Transfer, Canada (2017), the 70th Annual Meeting of APS Division of Fluid Dynamics, USA (2017) and the 48th AIAA Fluid Dynamics Conference, USA (2018). He is an internal examiner in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, Ekiti State University and a reviewer of some local journals.

He was appointed acting Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering on 1st August 2023
