Prof. Taiwo Oluwasesan ONI

HOD, Mechanical Engineering

Prof. Taiwo Oluwasesan ONI is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and the current Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. He belongs to Thermofluids division within the Department. He obtained a B.Eng degree and an M.Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (formerly known as Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti) and Federal University of Technology Akure, respectively. He also obtained a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, United Kingdom.

His research and teaching interests Oni are in the specializations of heat transfer, energy, fluid flow, thermodynamics, refrigeration, and air-conditioning. In addition, he has experience in numerical simulation of heat transfer and fluid flow.

He is an author and a co- author of several peer-reviewed articles published in reputable international journals and conference proceedings. He has also authored and co- author a textbook and chapters in books. Moreover, he is a reviewer of some reputable international journals, and he has some editorial board memberships.

Prof. Oni has successfully supervised postgraduate at diploma, master, and doctoral levels in Mechanical Engineering, many of whom are making significant contributions in industry, academia, and research. He has contributed extensively to academic leadership having served as External Examiner and External Assessor for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in some universities in Nigeria and abroad.

He belongs to several professional associations, namely Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE), Chartered Management Institute (CMI) United Kingdom, and International Association of Engineers (IAENG) Hong Kong in China.

Beyond research, Prof Oni has contributed extensively to administration in academic, as he has held numerous administrative positions within Ekiti State University. Some of them are Acting Head of Department for Mechanical Engineering, Sub Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Member of the Board of College of Post Graduate Studies, and Chairman of several key committees at the department, faculty and university levels.
